About Treehouse Foundation

Treehouse is a highly collaborative nonprofit organization founded in 2002. Our vision: Every child rooted in family and community.

We seek out new ways to improve the lives of children and young people who have experienced foster care through our intergenerational communities and national advocacy.

We have achieved recognition for strengthening families, creating a culture of purposeful aging, and addressing the “aging-out” crisis among young people exiting foster care.

We started a movement to bring foster care alums into the conversation about child welfare at all levels, and we continue to celebrate those change-makers as Champions.

The work we do is in two parts:

Treehouse Intergenerational Communities

We created a neighborhood in Western Massachusetts that’s a model for new ways to support families raising children who have been in foster care. It also provides purposeful living for older adults.

The ReEnvisioning Foster Care Movement

Leading the movement to educate, inspire, and promote collaboration across disciplines. We are growing a national community — spearheaded by those with lived experience — to create innovation in child welfare.
