Welcome to the Summer 2024 edition of our newsletter!

It’s been a busy spring — the Runway 5k was a huge success, the Truth Tellers Theater Ensemble performed at the Mass State House, plans for Treehouse at Olmsted Village are moving forward, and here at Treehouse Circle the roses are in bloom and community members are gardening and planning parades. Summer is here!

With gratitude,

Judy Cockerton
Founder and CEO

The 2nd Annual Runway 5K was hit!

Thank you for making the Runway 5K a great day and a successful fundraiser.

We raised $106,000 for Treehouse. We are deeply grateful to the 300 runners, walkers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers. You made the second edition of the Runway 5K a tremendous success!

With 450 donors and a capacity crowd participating, it was a fantastic day all around. We’ll be back in April of 2025, pencil it in.

BOSTON UPDATE

The Treehouse team meets with 2Life Communities’ Partners in Easthampton

Coming on the heels of a $7MM award from Boston’s Mayor Wu Administration and the Boston Community Preservation Committee (CPC), Partners from 2Life Communities traveled to Easthampton to continue planning for Treehouse at Olmsted Village in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood. Intensive teamwork is essential to the success of this exciting project, and we’re working with 2Life to evaluate programming, space and logistical planning, as well as bring our respective strengths to the process.

We are grateful to the Wu Administration as well as Boston’s CPC and Neighborhood Housing Trust for including Treehouse at Olmsted Village in this year’s round of affordable housing funding awards.

This $7 million award is an important investment in multigenerational living within the City of Boston. Planned opening is in 2028.

We’ll keep you updated on progress.  Are you on our mailing list?

VOICES OF YOUTH ADVOCACY

Truth Tellers Theater Ensemble Performs at the Mass State House

We gathered at the Massachusetts State House for a powerful performance by Truth Tellers Theater Ensemble about  youth advocacy.

The capacity audience included policy makers from across the state, Mass Cultural Council (sponsored), DCF staff and leadership, foster care alumni, community members and family, and guests.

Truth Tellers performed at several additional venues around MA including Easthampton Schools and the Department of Children and Families in Holyoke. And a wonderful hometown audience welcomed us at Easthampton Media — a great partner with us. Big thanks to the Holyoke DCF, Holyoke High School students, Easthampton Media, and the State House.
